Past Tule MLRP Events
This event followed the multi-stakeholder workshop in April to build alignment on shared priorities for land repurposing in the Tule Subbasin and identify the top land repurposing solutions with the strongest potential. The feedback gathered at both workshops will inform the Tule Subbasin Regional Core Plan.
This event was the first multi-stakeholder workshop of the Tule Subbasin, bringing together landowners, farmers, community members, Tribal representatives, water agencies, and conservation organizations. The workshop aimed to build mutual understanding of each other’s concerns and priorities in the context of groundwater sustainability and land use changes, and to clarify interest group priorities and preferences for land repurposing solutions.
This event highlighted water management challenges in the Tulare Lake Subbasin. A panel that included several Tule MLRP partners discussed the implications of SGMA, water conservation strategies, and climate change impacts and solutions for the San Joaquin Valley, among other related topics.
This workshop was hosted for landowners to help them better understand their options in practical and actionable ways, supported mainly by grower stories and examples. Other stakeholders were welcome as well. The Solutions Seminar was developed in response to feedback that the initial land repurposing guidance was too general and conceptual, and was intended to empower landowners to take action to reduce groundwater use.
